November 2007

I know that it has been a long time, but I promise I will blog more! I graduate in four weeks, which is very exciting! I am ready to begin my journey with my passion of photography and design. I am looking forward to what it has to bring me and I love that I am constantly learning! I am blessed with loving family and a soon to be husband that is so supportive. (I know I can be a lot to handle sometimes! I can never make up my mind!)

anyways.. I don't mean to be sappy, I just have a lot to thank God for right now!

on to photography though :) Back in October I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph Sheri and Mark's wedding. I met both back in high school and have many fond memories with them! Sheri and I shared a locker in 11th grade and had very different distinct personalities, but in a good way! I enjoyed decorating our locker with many different patterns and photographs, and occasionally taped objects on the locker also. Sheri on the other hand, liked simple. Nothing on the locker :) I think I drove her crazy haha. But we had a good time.

Her fiancé Mark was a wrestler and football player in high school. My brother, a freshman at the time, ADORED Mark (he was a senior.) My brother decided he wanted to wrestle Mark in the heavy weight class.. did he have a chance? Not in the world haha. Mark pinned him down within 13 seconds. My brother continued the rest of the reason wanting a rematch. He has yet to win :)

Mark and Sheri were in band together. I think one moment everyone will always remember is when Mark told Sheri he was going to marry her someday.. (this is before they were even dating! I think Sheri was a little scared!)

I always enjoy getting to knowing my clients before I shoot a wedding. I think it makes my photographs so much more personal when I know their story. For Mark and Sheri, their story makes me cry! Mark was called to Iraq and leaves in a few months. Originally they were to get married in December, but because they were unsure when he was to leave they decided to have the wedding in October. They gave each of their guests a snowflake to put on the tree to remember to pray for them while Mark is in Iraq. Matt and I will be putting that snowflake on our tree this year and is a reminder to live each day full of unconditional love. The Love that Mark and Sheri have for each other.. and the service Mark is doing for our country.

I love these boys.. they are so full of spunk :)

Even though my brother can't pin Mark.. Sheri can!!!

Jess & Mark 6.9.07

I was given the opportunity to photograph my friend Jess and Mark's wedding in Carlton. This was my first "official' solo wedding (although I did have help from my wonderful gopher and soon to be husband Matthew :) Jess and Mark were the perfect couple to start out my photography in weddings, they were great! :)

Strike a pose :)

This is one of my favorite moments of the day- Jess' cousin Joey was telling his grandmother that she "smelled like an old ladies closet" Jess' grandma was speechless!

Monica & Corie May 19th 2007

In May I shadowed my first wedding- Matt's cousin Monica had her wedding at the Blaisdell Mansion in Minneapolis. It was beautiful! I loved that I was able to be a part of her day.

I love the lighting on this photograph.

Emily

Back in Feburary I was given the opportunity to photograph my boss' daughter. This was the first time I had photographed a baby, and to be quite honest- I was very nervous! I never realized how hard it could be to photograph a child, especially when they are constantly moving! Even though it was a challenge I was very happy with how the photographs turned out. I am really enjoying photographing people in their environment instead of in front of a backdrop. I think it really captures the moment and personality of the person. It is very exciting! :)

a new blog :)

Hello everyone!

So I have decided to try something new. I was getting tired of the way my photographs look on facebook.. becuase they do not look like that! This way I can talk about what I am doing, and let everyone have a glimpse of my work! Photography & design has became an addiction, I love how I am constantly learning something new through each project that I do.

enjoy!
